Florida Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy’s Chief of Staff, Brad Howard, Joins Vogel Group as Principal.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Top bipartisan government relations firm, Vogel Group, announced today that Brad Howard will join the firm as a Principal on their federal affairs team and public affairs practice. Brad joins the firm from Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy’s (D-FL) office where he has served as Chief of Staff since she took office in 2017.

As Congresswoman Murphy’s chief policy, communications, and political advisor, Brad spent the last five years advising the Congresswoman on a wide variety of policy issues during her tenure on the House Ways and Means Committee, Armed Services Committee, and Small Business Committee. Congresswoman Murphy also serves on the Steering & Policy Committee, as Co-Chair of the Blue Dog Coalition, and as a Chief Deputy Whip, where Brad helped negotiate major pieces of legislation with House leadership, moderates, and the White House in the closely divided 117th Congress. Brad was also elected by his peers to serve as Secretary of the bipartisan House Chiefs of Staff Association.

Alex Vogel, Chief Executive Officer at Vogel Group, noted that Brad’s joining the firm will be hugely additive on multiple fronts: “We are excited that Brad joining the firm will not only drive our growth in the public affairs space but also that his insider perspective and relationships in Congress and throughout the Biden Administration will be exceedingly valuable to our clients.”

An Arkansas native, Brad brings 15 years of experience in government, communications, and politics, working with center-left policymakers at the local, state, and federal levels. Brad joined Congresswoman Murphy’s team after serving as Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s Press Secretary and Spokesperson for the City of New Orleans and after working in the U.S. Small Business Administration under President Obama.

Prior to that, Brad led communications for the Blue Dog Coalition, serving as chief spokesperson and advising members on effective communications strategies in Washington and in their districts. Brad began his career in Congressman Mike Ross’s (D-AR) office where he served as Communications Director for four years.

With experience leading four gubernatorial, congressional, and senatorial campaigns, Brad ran Congresswoman Murphy’s historic 2016 campaign that unseated a 24-year incumbent with what the Washington Post named one of the top ten best-run campaigns in the nation.

Brad Howard added, “I’m incredibly honored to have worked for Congresswoman Murphy whose patriotism, skill, and passion are inspiring, and I’m proud of the reputation we built together as one of the most effective, responsive, and bipartisan offices on Capitol Hill,” said Howard.

“With closely divided majorities in both chambers of Congress, I’m excited to join Vogel Group where they recognize the power and strategic importance of bipartisanship to get things done. I look forward to working alongside a team of very talented people who know how Washington works.”

Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) provided the following comment on Brad’s departure: “ Brad Howard has been my closest advisor from day one, leading our office to success by building on one of the most responsive, effective, and bipartisan operations in the House,” said Congresswoman Murphy. “Brad has a solid reputation across Capitol Hill as someone who works with numerous stakeholders to reach consensus and get things done. I’m sad to see him go, but I know he will be incredibly successful in his new role.”
