Venicia Gray is a Director at the Vogel Group.
Venicia Gray has nearly two decades of experience working in and for state, federal and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining Vogel Group, she was a senior manager for the National Partnership for Women and Families, where she worked to promote equitable maternal health policies, focused on the dual maternal and infant health crises and its impact on Black, Latinx, and other people of color. In that role, Venicia previously led a national advisory council for maternal health and has served as an advisor for U.S. of Care’s and Deloitte’s Black Maternal Health Project.
Through her own lived experience, Venicia uses her “superpower” to convene a range of diverse experts to inform maternal health policies and practices with the end goal of systemic change to the delivery of maternal healthcare. Venicia’s prior experience includes serving as the first assistant director for state and federal affairs at March of Dimes, bringing an equity lens to several key pieces of federal and state maternal and child legislation. She created the infrastructure for and led a national fellowship, training cohorts of volunteers to become impactful, storytelling advocates. She is a former Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Fellow, previously working for former Rep. Marcia Fudge and the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Black Americans (formerly the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans). Venicia has served in various roles within the Obama administration, including special assistant to the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, where she led a 12-agency campaign to support awareness of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
Venicia, a proud Baton Rouge, Louisiana native, received her B.A. in Political Science and Master of Public Administration with an emphasis on public policy analysis from Southern University A&M College and is currently completing a Master of Science in Project Management at George Washington University. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband and their son, and is an avid college and New Orleans Saints football fan.
