Katie Hendrickson is a Principal at the Vogel Group.
Katie brings over a decade of leadership in government affairs, political strategy, and operations to the firm. Most recently, she served as Chief of Staff for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), where she advised senior leadership on policy priorities and built strategic partnerships across government, industry, and advocacy organizations. Prior to her time at DOE, Katie was Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), where she worked closely with interagency partners and congressional stakeholders to align U.S. trade policy with broader economic and national security goals. Katie also spearheaded USTR’s domestic travel agenda, coordinating strategic outreach to farmers, manufacturers, labor unions, and industry groups to build support for the administration’s trade priorities.
Through key roles at both the state and federal levels, Katie developed deep expertise in executive appointments and public service leadership. As Deputy Director of Boards and Commissions for North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, she advised on appointments to more than 350 boards across state agencies—ensuring political alignment, promoting diversity, and advancing the governor’s agenda. She later served as Senior Associate Director for Presidential Boards and Commissions at the White House, where she helped steer the selection process for high-profile appointments central to the administration’s priorities.
Katie also has significant political experience, having held senior roles on major national campaigns. On Hillary for America, she managed complex logistics for high-profile events, ensuring flawless execution under intense deadlines. As North Carolina Political Director for both the Bloomberg and Biden campaigns, she developed and executed strategic outreach initiatives, recruited key surrogates, and secured critical endorsements. These experiences sharpened her expertise in strategic communications, coalition-building, and rapid response in high-pressure environments.
At the Vogel Group, Katie draws on her broad experience to advise clients on navigating complex regulatory environments and advancing strategic objectives across the agriculture, energy, and trade sectors. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Katie holds a B.S. in Business Administration from North Carolina State University and lives in Washington, D.C. with her fiancé.
