Top Tennessee Lobbyists Join Forces to Roll Out Nashville Office

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, a team of top Tennessee-based lobbyists joined one of the nation’s top bipartisan and fastest-growing government relations firm, Vogel Group. Tommy Alsup, Bryan Kaegi, and Rob Mortensen joined forces to roll out Vogel Group’s latest expansion to Nashville, Tennessee. They bring with them a robust roster of clients across the policy landscape, including in economic development, healthcare, education, procurement, and tourism and hospitality.

The team will open the firm’s Tennessee office in Nashville and will continue to service their expanding roster of clients at the state level. This expansion will also bolster the firm’s wider policy reach in the state and further strengthen the firm’s existing political relationships.

This team in Nashville has a long track record of success in government, business, and Tennessee politics. The team’s combined experience paired with the additional resources that the firm’s federal practice offers will enable Vogel Group to continue to provide unparalleled multi-jurisdictional government relations services in Tennessee and nationally.

Tommy Alsup joins Vogel Group after previously serving as Vice President of Government Affairs for Envision Healthcare and serving as Senior Vice President for Government Relations & Business Development at Corizon Health. Prior to that, he held a senior-level position at CoreCivic. Tommy also served as Mayor of the City of Oak Hill and worked closely with then-Mayor of Nashville, Bill Purcell.

Bryan Kaegi joins the Vogel team after previously serving six years as Senior Vice President of Government Relations for Acadia Healthcare, a leading behavioral health company. Prior to that, Bryan served as the Finance Director for numerous elected officials, at both the state and federal level, including Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Congressman Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN-03). Bryan also served as Finance Director for the Tennessee Republican Party and was a member of the Finance Committee for Governor Bill Lee’s campaign.

Rob Mortensen, who most recently served as President and CEO of Hospitality TN, joins Vogel Group after serving in a variety of state-wide CEO and leadership roles across the behavioral health and tourism industries. Mortensen has 30 years of lobbying and government relations experience and has served as a consultant to multiple Tennessee state and city administrations on tourism, children’s issues and industry growth and recovery. He was appointed by the current administration to help the tourism industry in Tennessee navigate the pandemic.

Vogel Group has always had a unique, and important, relationship with Tennessee — driven originally by my work for former Senate Majority Leader Frist and our work for a large group of federal clients that are headquartered in Tennessee,” said Vogel Group Chief Executive Officer, Alex Vogel. “This team’s deep relationships and substantive knowledge across the state better position our clients to navigate the business and policy environment during a time of continued economic expansion across Tennessee.”

The team will co-locate with Kaegi Resources starting in February.
