Veteran Tax, Trade and Energy Lobbyist Brian Johnson Joins the Vogel Group

Washington, DC, September 10, 2018– Today, The Vogel Group announced that Brian Johnson is joining the firm as a Principal. Known for being an expert tax, trade, and energy lobbyist with over 10 years of policy and strategic government affairs experience, Johnson brings a strong track record of legislative successes and private sector experience.

Johnson has a deep understanding of key policy issues and critical needs of the current marketplace and its stakeholders. His abilities to craft campaigns on the grassroots, state, and federal level combining traditional and new media presence, government affairs strategies, and mobilization will help lead the growth and expansion of our government affairs practice.

“I am thrilled to be joining the talented team at The Vogel Group, one of top growing firms in Washington, DC.” Johnson said. “At a time when there is a great sense of instability in our nation’s Capital, I look forward to applying my skills to impact the legislative and regulatory environment on behalf of a variety of clients and bring some certainty and clarity to their needs here in Washington.”

Prior to joining the firm, Johnson served as a Director of Federal Relations for the American Petroleum Institute. There, he was instrumental in the industry’s successes in The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the most influential piece of tax reform legislation since 1986. Outside of that, he remained at the center of nearly every major energy policy action for almost a decade. Before that Johnson was most recently the Federal Affairs Manager at Americans for Tax Reform and the Executive Director of the Center for Worker Freedom. Politically he has been involved in several presidential campaigns, both at the grassroots level and in D.C.

‘With the addition of Brian, The Vogel Group is better positioned than ever to tackle the significant policy issues that continue to dominate Washington,” said Alex Vogel, CEO of the firm. “He is whip smart, knows the issues and the players, and has represented some of the largest companies in the world consistently delivering a proven track record of success.”
