The Vogel Group Launches “Global Workforce Practice” Naming President George H.W. Bush’s Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Consular Affairs Pam Covington as Lead

Washington, DC, January 23, 2019 – Today, The Vogel Group announced the establishment of a practice area focused on enhancing America’s workforce by assisting U.S.-based and international businesses with non-immigrant visa and workforce matters.

This new practice area will be led by Senior Vice President Pam Covington and will augment the firm’s existing practice areas – federal & state government affairs, global business advisory, due diligence & research, and policy accountability. Already part of the firm, Covington previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Consular Affairs under President George H. W. Bush. The Bureau of Consular Affairs is charged with administration of all consular services, including the management and processing of non-immigrant work visas. In addition to overseeing all U.S. Passport operations, Covington worked closely with and established strong relationships at the FBI, DEA, DoD, and the United States Customs Service (now Customs and Border Protection). Previously, Covington served in the White House as Director of Administration in the Office of Presidential Personnel.

“Our new global workforce practice is extremely timely and will provide companies with the bridges they need to facilitate non-immigrant visas and other vital approvals of workforce issues for employers,” said Covington.

“We already work with clients to create domestic and international business strategies that capitalize on regulations and policy so that executives, boards, and strategic team leaders see results in their top and bottom line,” said President & CEO Alex Vogel. “As our firm continues to grow, offering a service to compliment this by working with companies and policy makers to ensure our nation’s workforce needs are met just makes sense. And Pam’s experience in both government and the private sector will be a tremendous asset to our clients as they seek to move talent around the world to operate in the most efficient manner.”

Added Covington, “I am thrilled to be working to ensure viable workforce policies that make sense for American and global companies and to help ease regulatory burdens and numeric limits to facilitate investment and business growth in the U.S.”
