Brian Johnson is a Principal of The Vogel Group.

With over a decade of experience in energy, infrastructure, immigration, tax, and trade policy, and a strong background utilizing mobilization and communications components to compliment government relations strategies, Brian provides clients with a comprehensive strategy to tackle Capitol Hill, the Administration and agencies. Brian is instrumental as a senior leader of the firm’s government affairs practice and averages over 500 Congressional meetings a year and countless pieces of legislation introduced on behalf of clients. As a policy expert he has testified before Congress and his expert commentary has been featured on BBC, CNN, C-SPAN, Fox News, Fox Business News, PBS, and many more.

 

Previously, Brian was a Director of Federal Relations for the American Petroleum Institute and prior to that, a manager of federal affairs for Americans for Tax Reform, and has worked for presidents in the field and on many political and presidential candidate campaigns. During his tenure at API, among many other accomplishments, Brian was instrumental in crafting major energy and trade policy (including the passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and the construction of what was the TransAtlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP), and the largest tax reform since 1986. In this capacity, he worked daily for years with members of the House Energy & Commerce, Senate Commerce, Science & Transportation, Ways & Means and Senate Finance Committees as well as senior officials within the White House and relevant agencies.

 

Brian received his B.A. in Political Science, with a minor in International Affairs, a Specialization in European Political Economy and International Trade from the Institut Catholique des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (ICHEC) in Brussels, Belgium, and a Masters in Public Administration focusing on Public Policy Analysis.
