SUMMARY: The Vogel Group is looking for a Government Affairs Associate with 2-4 years of Government or Policy experience. The associate will complement and support the team’s existing efforts in developing, coordinating, and executing congressional strategies and policy objectives on behalf of a diverse portfolio of clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Executive Administrative Support and Operations

  • Effectively manage calendars and engagements for two principals.
  • Coordinate speaking engagements and travel arrangements including domestic itineraries, reservations, and briefing materials.
  • Prepare principals for a variety of internal and external meetings by developing briefing materials, coordinating prep calls, and developing presentations (as needed). 

Government Affairs

  • Assist in the responsibility of maintaining, cultivating, and engaging relationships that include U.S Government officials, Members of Congress, and relevant Committee staff, to create value-add opportunities that raise the visibility of The Vogel Group’s clients and their policy and advocacy priorities.
  • Represent Vogel Group clients to external policy stakeholders at events, conferences, coalition meetings, and in various working groups.
  • Managing a federal multi-issue policy portfolio, including tracking legislation and regulations that impact clients’ business operations.
  • Work with Principals and Senior Staff to develop and execute effective government affairs strategies consistent with the business objectives of clients.
  • Monitor, identify, analyze legislation and regulatory activity that may impact client operations and business objectives.
  • Draft legislative language, attend hearings, draft hearing testimony, and develop policy positions for firms’ clients.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory activities and promote clients’ association and market positions.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of clients, as needed.
  • Participate and assist in the management of fly-in days (virtual and in-person). This includes assisting with all legislative and policy collateral such as issue papers, talking points, etc.
  • Perform additional duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience participating in a government affair functions;
  • Government experience as a congressional aid or in a government relations role at a lobbying firm, law firm, corporate office, non-for-profit entity, or association;
  • Strong relationships with Congressional staff and members and strategic partners;
  • Experience in planning and executing virtual or in-person Capitol Hill advocacy days and events;
  • Experience producing written materials for a variety of stakeholders.
